Position Overview

The Immigration Program Assistant works with Hope CommUnity Center’s Immigration/Citizenship Program and supports the Citizenship Program Manager and the Legal Services Program Manager with data, administrative tasks, and community outreach to support the program’s goals.

Essential Job Functions and Tasks

  • Builds partnerships and alliances and delivers educational presentations with other organizations,
  • churches, consulates, colleges, high schools, and individuals focused on Citizenship.
  • Develops a supportive relationship with participants of HCC’s community to make them aware of Citizenship classes and legal services and promote leadership among programs participants.
  • Assists with the organization and implementation of Citizenship classes.
  • Collaborates with and provides backup support as needed to the Citizenship Program.
  • Prepares data for computer entry by compiling and sorting information.
  • Maintains and inputs student attendance and quiz scores naturalization screening, submission, and oath data, hours served by volunteers.
  • Maintains quarterly book inventory data.
  • Tracks and updates program income.
  • Perform translation of personal documents.
  • Make and answer high-volume phone calls related to immigration and legal services.
  • Assists Citizenship Program Manager with electronic/physical student record filing.
  • Provide data to Director of Immigration Program for quarterly and annual program/reports.
  • Supports Citizenship Program Manager with data in preparation of quarterly grant report.
  • Maintains student confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Engage in Staff and Immigration meetings.
  • Other tasks as needed.

Qualifications and Skills required

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish required, Portuguese/Haitian Creole welcomed).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
