Position Overview:
The Communications Manager will lead the organization’s strategic communications efforts to elevate our mission, engage key stakeholders, and amplify the voices of immigrant communities. This role is responsible for shaping and implementing an effective communication strategy across digital, print, and media channels to increase awareness, mobilize supporters, and strengthen community engagement.
Primary Job Functions
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the organization’s mission and goals.
- Oversee all external communications, including website content, social media, press releases, newsletters, and marketing materials.
- Manage media relations, cultivate relationships with journalists, and secure press coverage to highlight the organization’s work and advocacy efforts.
- Develop messaging and storytelling strategies that authentically represent immigrant communities and advance policy initiatives.
- Collaborate with program teams to effectively communicate the impact of our services and initiatives.
- Lead crisis communications and ensure timely, transparent messaging during urgent situations.
- Supervise and mentor the communications lead and communication consultants.
- Analyze communication metrics to track effectiveness and inform future strategies.
- Ensure brand consistency and alignment across all communication channels.
- Represent the organization at public events, speaking engagements, and community forums as needed.
Skills/Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in nonprofit communications, public relations, or advocacy.
- Strong understanding of immigrant rights, social justice issues, and advocacy campaigns.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in media relations and securing press coverage.
- Proficiency in social media strategy, digital marketing, and content creation.
- Ability to develop compelling narratives that uplift immigrant voices and experiences.
- Experience managing a team and working collaboratively across departments.
- Fluency in a second language relevant to immigrant communities (e.g., Spanish, Portuguese or Haitian Creole) is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Structure
- This is a full-time position with some evening and weekend work, as well as travel required.
Salary
- The salary range for this position is $55,000 to 60,000, with the exact salary depending on experience.
