Why Should YOU Sponsor?

At Hope CommUnity Center, we believe that belonging, love, and solidarity are
not just values to uphold—they are lifelines for our community. The Hope Party
is more than an annual fundraiser; it is a celebration of resilience, of neighbors
standing together, and of the staying power that carries us through difficult times.

When you become a sponsor, you are part of that story.

Your support ensures that Hope remains a place where everyone is welcome and
everyone is loved; a place where immigrants and others can find the resources,
encouragement, and opportunities they need to thrive. Rooted in Apopka yet
Reaching far beyond, our work strengthens a wider community, a bigger “we,”
securing a future of dignity and opportunity for all our families.

Hope’s Beginning

Sisters Cathy Gorman, Gail Grimes, and Ann Kendrick arrived in Apopka in the early 1970s to work with the local orange pickers. The three Sisters, members of the order of Notre Dame de Namur, wanted to provide this underserved community with the resources needed to move toward social and economic justice.

Starting with a community health clinic, followed by affordable housing, a labor organization, and a credit union, whatever the people dreamed of, the “Apopka Nuns” (as they came to be known) worked alongside them to help make those dreams reality. All the while, they were creating a welcoming home to empower and enrich the lives of all who would come. That home is known today as Hope CommUnity Center, or simply Hope.

Hope is a place where compassion meets action to inspire lasting change.

Where your money goes

Your contribution will sustain the legacy of the Sisters while securing the future of Hope.

Our work impacts over 20,000 people. Through service and advocacy, we continue to educate and empower individuals and families who are excluded from society.

Your donations bring tangible differences to our various programs and services. As a result, your contribution gives Hope the power to tend to our community’s needs in areas such as Education, Immigration, Youth & Families, Service Learning, Community Organizing, and Social Services. Thanks to you, Hope can be a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable place where everyone can feel at home.

Every donation has a unique and essential impact on our community:

  • Over 80 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to serve these communities.
  • $50 for our emergency food pantry can feed a family for 3 days.
  • $100 will fund community outreach.
  • $200 will help promising young students go to college

None of this is possible without your support.
