Don Quijote Awards:
Hope’s Executive Director, Felipe Sousa-Lazaballet is one of the finalists in the “Professional of the Year” category
Good news is always a great reason to celebrate. At Hope Community Center, we celebrate and hold a deep sense of pride as we recognize an individual who, since arriving in the United States, has raised his voice to defend his rights and those of thousands of immigrants in this country. Felipe Sousa-Lazaballet is committed to personal growth and transformation. Still, above all else, he is dedicated to serving disadvantaged communities. Today, we join him in this celebration.
During a press conference at the Winter Park Library, Prospera and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando announced the finalists of the Don Quijote Awards. Among the finalists was Hope’s very own Executive Director, Felipe Sousa-Lazaballet, in the category of “Professional of the Year.”
The Don Quijote Awards recognize successful businesses and individuals who have demonstrated the qualities exemplified by the classic literary character of Don Quijote: visionary and courageous dreamers who have taken risks to achieve their goals and improve Central Florida.
This achievement is a testament to Felipe’s power to make dreams come true. His journey exemplifies strength, perseverance, and Hope for our community.
The winners will be announced at the 26th Don Quijote Awards Gala on Saturday, December 9, at Epcot’s World Showplace Pavilion.
If you believe in Hope, anything is possible.
Like many immigrants, Felipe arrived in a new country, hoping for a brighter future. Through the power of Hope, he overcame many challenges and now uses his passion to empower and advocate for the rights of immigrant, LGBTQ+, and underserved communities while contributing to the transformative power of Hope CommUnity Center.
We are incredibly proud of Felipe and grateful for his leadership and dedication to Hope CommUnity Center. Felipe’s commitment to the community has played a pivotal role in fulfilling Hope’s mission. Thank you for your incredible work and for positively impacting the lives of individuals and families in the Central Florida community and beyond.
