Hope CommUnity Center, along with YAYA, Florida Immigrant Coalition and Farmworker Association of Florida, organized an action in front of the Orlando offices of Representative Stephanie Murphy and Senator Bill Nelson at Lake Eola to demand that Clean Dream Act legislation is included in the spending bill being voted on tomorrow by the United States Congress. DACA and TPS recipients, Central Florida immigrant people, allies, and organizations gathered for the “funeral” to bring attention to all of the dreams that have died and all of the dreams that will die because of congressional inaction on a Clean Dream Act.
Liliana Alvarez, who spoke today at the rally, says, “This battle must end today. We must come out of the shadows. I stand in solidarity and want more.”
Liliana was not eligible to qualify for DACA but will be able to qualify for the Clean Dream Act if it passes. Thank you to everyone who attended, especially Florida Jobs With Justice, CAIR Florida, Mi Familia Vota, and others.
