TO SERVE IS TO LEARN. TO LEARN IS TO SERVE.

People always say there is something warm, familiar and inviting about Hope CommUnity Center. It doesn’t seem to matter whether it is a mother seeking tutoring for her child, a teenager trying to find a path to a more successful life, a group of out-of-state college students learning about a culture different from their own, a parishioner bringing a donation for our emergency food pantry…all are something special and significant..

All encounters — in the reception area and the hallway, in meetings and tutoring sessions, in groups and classes — begin with authentic presence and the radical act of truly seeing and acknowledging one another. This creates a special, sometimes almost-magical feeling of warmth and welcome.

All of Hope’s programs and services are designed to –

  • assist people suffering the effects of injustice
  • advocate for humane and comprehensive reforms in the areas of immigration, labor, housing, health care and education
  • to stand in solidarity with people learning to advocate for themselves.

Service and helping are different at Hope. Whether you receive services, attend programs, give your time or dollars, or are part of staff, you are both learner and teacher. You are the most important member of the Hope family.
